Feel Great Daily With This All-Star Lemon Detox Elixir Recipe

When life gives you lemons…
If you’re looking for a health and vitality boost using ingredients you probably have on hand (or can easily acquire), this is THE recipe for you. I prepare a batch of this elixir weekly, throw it back in a shot glass each morning after hydrating but before eating, and I find that it gives me that extra pep in my step!

Apple Cider Vinegar
Helps gear up the digestive tract after several hours of fasting (sleeping) by increasing stomach acid levels to help break down food. Promotes healthy gut bacteria and may help increase feelings of satiety.²
Not only tasty but has antibacterial and anti-fungal properties. A good source of antioxidants. Helps soothe a sore throat.³
A very popular health food with anti-inflammatory properties. May help alleviate arthritic and other kinds of pain in the body. Also aids digestion and improves liver function.⁴
May boost metabolism and help burn calories.⁵ Also may help improve circulation and blood flow.⁶
Helps enhance curcumin, the most active ingredient in turmeric. As a combination, they enhance each other’s anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects.⁷
5-10 minutes | Roughly 7 shot glass size servings
2 lemons, peeled
1/4 - 1/2 cup filtered water (adjust depending on how much juice yields from the lemons)
2 tsp apple cider vinegar
2 tsp raw honey (or maple syrup as a vegan alternative)
1/2 tsp ground turmeric
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (start with 1/8 tsp for your first batch if sensitive to spiciness)
A couple dashes of ground black pepper
In a blender or food processor add all ingredients and blend on high speed until a juice-like consistency forms.
Pour the mixture into a cup that you can seal with a lid, such as a reusable smoothie cup, through a sifter if you prefer no pulp (I often remove half the pulp so it’s easier to swallow). Also be mindful of sifting out the seeds.
To drink, pour roughly a 1 oz. amount into a shot glass. Consume in the morning after your first glass of water but ideally before you eat.
Keep in the fridge for up to one week.
